Parola Atomica
“La parola atomica” / “The atomic word” is a project which re-discovers the art of storytelling and expressing oneself. Right now, big-datas, machines’ binary language and the difficulty of listening are draining our expressive imagination. Therefore, the project aims at finding the fascination of storytelling. This applies especially to the presentation of complex and mysterious concepts, like the academic ones, apparently too difficult to convey. In order to do that, “the atomic word” draws on the theatre experience to approach the art of storytelling.
In fact, storytelling means first of all expressing yourself, not only with words but also with your body. The staging of a story frees you from automatism and constrictions full of clichés, creating an invisible link between the teller and the listener. In fact, it often happens to witness moments of collective listening, where knowledge is passed down without the awareness of how the narrative lymph travels from the teller to the listener. It is not a drama course: you don’t necessarily need to be an actor to tell a story. Instead, it is more a restoration of an art that is part of our intimacy. For that, we will dive into the unraveled nets of the stories, through a series of workshop meetings where we will develop a training about narrative communication. More than learning rules and methods, we will focus on how to set aside some ready-made forms of communication and the possible developments that these forms preclude.
We have been feeding on stories since birth, we “narrate” ourselves in order to transform the often contradictory and disturbing imperatives that comes from the world and our minds, into that process which makes us forget who we are and our self-referentiality for a while.
